The use of epitope tags in recombinant DNA techniques allows the detection of proteins where specific antibodies are not available. This eliminates the need to generate a new antibody for each protein saving time, resources and money.

V5, which is usually a 14 amino acid tag (GKPIPNPLLGLDST), can be incorporated into expression vectors of bacteria, fungi/yeast, insect or mammalian origin. Its presence does not interfere with the transport and selection of recombinant proteins in bacteria or mammalian cells. A smaller 9 amino acid epitope tag (IPNPLLGLD) has also been successfully used and may inhibit the binding of the antibody to its native protein.
Our panel of V5 tag antibodies recognize different epitopes within the small Pk tag derived from the P/V proteins of the paramyxovirus SV5. All SV5-Pk clones have been used to detect recombinant proteins, including transmembrane and secreted proteins, which have been tagged with the V5 Pk sequence. Our V5 tag antibody clones are suitable for a variety of applications including Western blotting.
Clones SV5-Pk1, SV5-Pk4 and SV5-Pk5 are available in a variety of conjugated formats, including Alexa Fluor® conjugates and DyLight® dyes for immunofluorescence - ideal for saving you time by using direct detection techniques.

Histidine is widely used for purifying proteins expressed in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian systems. Our histidine tag antibody is valuable in recognizing proteins containing the motif H-H-H-H-H-H and may be used to track the purification of expressed proteins.
In Western blotting of bacterial extracts antibody clone AD1.1.10 has been shown not to cross-react with any endogenous products, although some cross-reactivity may be seen with extracts of insect or mammalian cells.
Interested in flow cytometric or immunofluorescent microscopic analysis. Try our Alexa Fluor® 488 and 647, DyLight® 549, FITC and RPE labeled Histidine tag antibodies!
c-myc is a popular expression vector tag (EQKLISEEDL) often used for two color immunofluorescence applications. Both antibodies may be used to detect the commonly used c-myc tag for protein studies. Clone 9E10 is available in a variety of direct-conjugate formats including Alexa Fluor® 488 and 647 and DyLight® 549 – suitable for flow cytometry.
HA tag is from hemagglutinin influenza and has the peptide sequence YPYDVPDYA. Our HA antibody is specific for the HA epitope tag peptide sequence, when fused to either the amino- or carboxyl- terminus of target proteins, that can be expressed in many frequently used expression vectors. Our purified polyclonal antibody (Product Code AHP1075) is available in a choice of quantities and is suitable for ELISA and Western blot.

The hydrophilic epitope tagging sequence DYKDDDDK (Asp-Tyr-Lys-Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys) corresponds to a C-terminal region of the 95-mer sequence of the pVP-FLAG cloning vector.
AbD Serotec offers both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies recognizing the DYKDDDDK peptide sequence. Our rat monoclonal antibody clone 6F7, (Product Code MCA4764) is specific for DYKDDDDK when fused to either the amino- or carboxyl- terminus or at an internal site on target proteins.
The rat DYKDDDDK monoclonal antibody is available in different formats: choose from FITC, RPE and HRP conjugated antibodies while our purified antibody is available in a variety of quantities including bulk and test sizes. Clone 6F7 is suitable for use in ELISA, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, paraffin embedded tissue sections and Western blotting. The antibody works at neutral pH and has very low background staining in immunocytochemistry.
The polyclonal DYKDDDDK antibody (Product Code AHP1074) recognizes the tag sequence when it is fused to either the amino- or carboxyl- terminus of target proteins. This antibody shows greater binding affinity and sensitivity than the clones M1, M2 and M5, in the majority of assays. Available in purified and HRP labeled formats, AHP1074 antibody has been shown not to cross-react with any endogenous proteins in Western blotting of bacterial extracts.
S-Tag is a 15 amino acid truncated form of the S-peptide, used in variety of protein expression applications in mammalian cells. AbD Serotec offers one polyclonal and three monoclonal antibodies, clones SBSTAGa, SBSTAGb, SBSTAGc. Each monoclonal is available in different formats including FITC, HRP purified and RPE suitable for use in ELISA, flow cytometry and protein purification.
Strep-Tag® is an 8 amino acid sequence, WSHPQFEK, especially useful for tagging membrane proteins, metalloproteins and sensitive protein complexes with multiple subunits. Clone Strep-MAB Immo (Product Code MCA2488) is particularly suited to the capture of Strep-Tag II containing proteins in assays such as ELISA, BiaCore™, or on biochips. Clone Strep-Tag II Classic (Product Code MCA2489) recognizes both C and N terminal as well as internal Strep-Tag II, and is ideal for Western blot applications.
VSV is a member of the Rhabdoviridae family, and consists of a single RNA molecule that encodes five proteins, one of which is a surface glycoprotein (G). G is a type I membrane glycoprotein and is responsible for viral binding to cell surface receptors and initiating the infectious process.
Our polyclonal (Product Code AHP1228) specifically recognizes fusion proteins containing the VSV-G epitope tag sequence (YTDIEMNRLGK). AHP1228 is available in purified and biotin formats suitable for ELISA and immunofluorescence applications.
Bulk quantities of our epitope tag antibodies are available and we also offer custom labeling with the conjugate of your choice e.g. DyLight® dyes. Please contact us for further information and a quote for these services.
