Job Purpose

The Market Segment Manager must develop, implement and maintain marketing strategies and tactics to meet organizational objectives for their designated market segment(s). For the New Ventures role the segments in question are Veterinary Research, and Biotechnological Commercial Services associated with our proprietary HuCAL technology.

The Veterinary Research segment focuses primarily on the marketing of our world leading range of antibodies to the research market.
The Biotech element requires working directly with our HuCAL specialist team based in Munich to effectively promote the customised project services we make available to the biotech/pharma market.

Effective management of the marketing mix, advertising and promotional activities of the organization are central to the role. This shall include identifying current and future product needs, business trends, competitive climate and targeting the relevant products to appropriate customer sub-groups in the segment.

Effective relationships between all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external are essential to the success of this role.


Person Profile

This person needs to be both a self starter as well as a team player. Strong marketing and organisational skills with experience in complex business environment is required. Preferred candidates will also have had a background in field sales into the immunology, biopharma or pharma industries. exceptional service to our customers. Willing to be part of a multidisciplinary team yet having the necessary drive to achieve successes on their own and adaptable to evolving responsibilities and corporate work environment.


Personal Profile

Work Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven marketing experience/ success (immunology background and or biotechnology area).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who also have field based sales experience.

Skills:

  • Life sciences background in immunology and/or biotech
  • Strategic /Tactical Marketing
  • Analytical capability and able to develop actionable solutions within deadlines
  • Comfortable interfacing with colleagues and customers at all levels

Education:

  • Science degree - life sciences discipline preferable;
  • Marketing qualifications preferable.

  • Reports to: Head of Global Marketing & Commercial Director UK/IRE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of a Marketing Plan for the market segment(s). This shall include Goals, Objectives, Strategies, Timelines, Budgets, Contingencies, Supporting Data & Analysis.
  • Plan segment-specific tactical marketing activities in collaboration with Sales Offices, other Market Segment Managers and Head of Global Marketing & Commercial Dir. UK/IRE as appropriate.
  • Manage the assigned market segment(s) and associated product positioning, promotion and pricing from a technical and commercial aspect for top and bottom line profit; always seeking to optimize profitability of the market segment.
  • Support the setting of strategic targets for assigned sector through provision of .data, opinion, and creativity in solution and materials development
  • Interact with customers, opinion leaders and commercial teams to ensure relevance and suitability of strategies and tactics.
  • Analyze the Marketing Plan on a quarterly basis and propose amendments where necessary and compile quarterly Market Segment Reports including revenues, competitor activities, and market changes.
  • Monitor customer needs and ensure product /services still fulfills them.
  • Coordinate and manage pre-launch and post launch activities including:
  1. develop any appropriate marketing activities
  2. manage any necessary field testing
  3. prepare any technical and marketing literature
  4. train the Sales Offices when appropriate.

Working times:

  • 5 days – 9.00 am – 5.00 pm with ½ hour for lunch
  • Extra hours may be needed as required
  • Occasional need for attendance at meetings or exhibitions outside these hours
  • Some travel outside the UK will be needed
