Colorectal Carcinoma

anti-topHemoglobin Antibodies in FOB Tests for Early Detection of Colorectal Carcinoma

Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers but can be cured if detected in the early stages by removing pre-malignant polyps.

Most cases of CRC occur as colon cancer, approximately 25% occur as rectal cancer.

Conventional fecal occult blood tests (guaiac tests) detect heme by a chemical method using hydrogen peroxide. The test is used to determine the cause of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding which could be due to a number of gastrointestinal disorders including diverticulitis, colitis, polyps, and colorectal cancer.

More sensitive immunodiagnostic fecal occult blood tests have been developed for the detection of fecal occult (hidden) blood by laboratories or doctors’ offices. These tests detect human hemoglobin in feces which is much more specific for lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Our range includes the following anti-hemglobin antibodies, all available in bulk for manufacture of immunodiagnostic tests.
